Shirley Ryan-Broyles passed away peacefully on April 2, 2021 in Pikes Peak Hospice at Penrose Hospital. Shirley was born in Colorado Springs to Leslie and Gladys Ryan on October 13, 1934. She lived most of her life in Colorado Springs, graduating from Colorado High School in 1952.
After graduation, she started her career at Mountain Bell as a telephone operator where she worked for several years. She spent much of her career as an Administrative Assistant at Lockheed Martin, retiring in 1999 to focus on family and the numerous hobbies she enjoyed.
When she wasn’t working or spending time with family, Shirley enjoyed traveling, figure skating, gardening and bowling. She was also a fitness enthusiast and was a long-time member of the YMCA.
In 1953 she married her childhood sweetheart Jack Broyles and remained married to him until his death in 1982. They would have two kids, Terry and Jacke. She would later remarry to Jerome Jarembo in 1998 and he would quickly become her best friend and caretaker over the last years of her life.
As a young girl, Shirley was fortunate enough to have a tightly knit and expansive family who would always be apart of her life. She is proceeded in death by her parents Leslie and Gladys Ryan, Wilbert and Zella Schisler, Wilma (Schisler) Hays, her half-brother Marshall Ryan and husband Jack Broyles. She is survived by husband Jerome Jarembo , two daughters Terry (Broyles) Currie and Jacke (Broyles) Anglesey, extended family member Shirley (Schisler) Branch, two step-children Derek and Holly Jarembo and eight grandchildren Ryan and Hope Anglesey, Kyle and Ronnie Currie, Matthew and Aiden Jarembo, Kamie and Tori Cunningham as well as many others who were integral in her life.
