Gary Lynn Cobb passed away peacefully in his sleep on January 3, 2021, after a long courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Gary was born February 24, 1938 in Wichita, Kansas to Carl and Viola Cobb, the oldest of four children predeceased by his younger sisters (Karen, Judy and Debbie). He married his first wife Shirley (also deceased), and they had two daughters: Ronda (Gray) and Laura (Vatcher). At age 18, Gary enlisted in the Navy where he served four years as an aircraft engine mechanic. Later in life Gary met and married the love of his life Lorri (Loretta), and adopted her young daughter Tracy.

Gary worked many jobs before and after the Navy, including ranch work in Kansas; as a personal driver for a wealthy man in Manitou Springs (“He had a really nice car!”); a welding assistant on the Flat Iron Project (a pipeline from Leadville to Divide); a deputy Marshall in Divide CO; a heavy equipment operator in Teller County; and as a mechanic in several different locations. He later worked for and retired from the El Paso County Department of Transportation.

Gary loved everything outdoors, including hunting, camping, and 4-wheeling. The one thing everyone generally remembers about Gary is his love of motorcycles. From his first motorcycle at age 14, Gary had a passion for taking bike rides, whether a quick ride through Garden of the Gods, a longer ride down to Cañon City on a Saturday, or a multi-day trip with Lorri and his riding buddies. Gary took great pride in his motorcycles, but his favorites were definitely his Harleys.

Gary is survived by his loving wife of 44 years and caretaker Lorri (Hawks); his daughters Ronda (Herbie) Gray, Laura (Lee) Vatcher, and Tracy (Todd) Frickell; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

There are no services planned at this time due to COVID restrictions. We hope to have a celebration of life party later this year.
