Melody Ann Compton-Gutierrez
On Wednesday December 9, 2020, Melody Compton a very affectionate and loving person passed away at the age of 55. Melody was born on September 4, 1965 in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Charlie and Marion Compton. She graduated in 1983 from Del Norte High School in Albuquerque, New Mexico and continued her education at New Mexico State University in Las Cruces, New Mexico. She had a long career with Presbyterian Healthcare Services in Albuquerque and recently settled down for a quiet lifestyle in Pueblo, Colorado along with in-laws and her beloved Weimaraner Bella. Melody had a passion for many things that included running track in high school, crafts, cooking, outdoor activities, dancing, listening to her favorite artist Paolo Nutini and babysitting. Melody adored children and her face would light up with happiness whenever she had the opportunity to connect with little ones! Her greatest passion and joy was the simple pleasures of spending time with her beloved pets, friends and family. Her best friend, Jackie Zingg Compton who she thought of as a sister, would visit often and as they reminisced about friends, high school and just happy memories in their past and present, you understood the true connection and bond they had with each other as they laughed and sometimes even cried together. When they finally said their goodbyes until next time, it was always with a hug and a “I Love You”. These are the type of connections that made her truly happy. Melody hugged everybody! If you had a hard time expressing emotion, you were still going to receive that hug. She had the ability to hug with true kindness that seemed to put people at ease. If you were not a person that liked to hug to begin with, after knowing her, you became a person that felt comfortable and appreciated it. Melody was extremely close to her father who raised her by himself, as she did not get the opportunity to know her mother who passed away shortly after she was born. Before his own passing, Melody took care of her father in his twilight years and enjoyed the wonderful stories he told in his charming way. He called her Tyke and she called him Daddy and when he would see her, his face would light up, his eyes would twinkle and Melodys heart would fill with joy! He did an incredible job of raising her with those Atoka, Oklahoma roots and values he passed down to her. Melody was a very easygoing, cheerful, forgiving and affectionate caring person with a true heartfelt kindness. She will truly be missed.
Melody was preceded in death by her father Charlie and her mother Marion, her three weimaraners – Velvet, Cashmere, Rosette and her cat Munchkin. She is survived by husband Mark Gutierrez, best friend/”sister” Jackie Zingg Compton, her Weimaraner Bella and several in-laws, cousins and friends.
At this time services will not be held due to the trying times of the pandemic. A prayer is all that is needed for condolences.
Thank You
