Edna Jean Sinke’s Memorial talk will be given by Brother L. Lee Bird, an elder of the Colorado City Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, via Zoom.
Edna Jean Waring was born on December 3, 1943 to Edith Beatrice (Hubbell) Waring and Norman Edgar Waring. She grew up in a big farm house with her little brother Russell Charles Waring, on the corner of Elk Lake Road and Gay Road. Her grandparents, Charles Russell Waring and Cora Waring lived in a little house on the same farm. On April 17, 1948 her dad died from leukemia. She also spent time at her grandparents place in Traverse City, MI. This was her mom’s parents, Epsy and Edith Hubbell. She went to school in Elk Rapids, MI where she graduated in 1961. She went to live with the Carleton family where she worked as an in home caregiver to the three children. She went with them when they moved to California. She later got training to become a keypunch operator. After her mother Edith married Fred Beard she came back to Elk Rapids, MI where she lived in a mobile home park. She bought a brand new ’67 Mustang and later on a modular home on the corner lot of Gay Rd and Monroe in Williamsburg. MI. She was working at Super Tool in Elk Rapids, where this coworker would come up behind her and delight in slamming down paperwork on her desk, just to watch her jump! A short time later this same man asked her out on their first date on Memorial Day in 1974. His name was Joseph Roger Sinke. Then on October 5, 1974 they got married. On December 8, 1976 Joe braved a snow storm to take Edna to the hospital just in time for their daughter to be born in the elevator on the way to the Delivery Room. Edith JoAnn Sinke was born. 6 weeks later Betty Dawson came to the house to offer Edna the book, The Truth That Leads to Eternal Life. Edna had a copy but it wasn’t handy because her bookcase was covered in Christmas decorations. Edna thought for sure Betty didn’t believe her that she already had the book. But that didn’t stop Betty Dawson and Shirley Clark from coming back and offering her a free at home Bible Study. She appreciated what she was learning but what really amazed her was when she learned the truth about Jehovah God and Jesus Christ were not the same person. In the fall on September 29, 1979 at the Assembly Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Holt, MI, she was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses. In the following spring, her husband Joe, was also baptized at the same place. As a couple they raised their daughter Edith, as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and she was also baptized at the Assembly Hall in Holt, MI on September 24, 1988. In 1992 they sold the Farm House on Gay Road, that they had bought from Edna’s Mom and Step Dad back in 1980. They moved to Charleston, MS where the local Brothers begged them to stay and help in the congregation which was on the list for where the Need Was Greater. They were much loved in that Congregation. But in 1996 the Sinke family were moved to accept the invitation to help the English speaking Congregation in Zapata, TX for a little over a year. Then they moved back to Mississippi. After their daughter left home, Edna and Joe enjoyed traveling a lot. Eventually they bought a house in Zapata, TX but continued to travel during the hot summer months. Their favorite places was in Montana and Colorado. In 2009 they sold their house in Texas and rented a house on Park Road in Rye, CO, which would be their last home. Their daughter Edith also came to Colorado and while sitting with her parents, noticed a young man and his mom next to her, She made friends with the mom and left the mom a text message on her phone but the son received the message and shortly after that, they started dating. Edith and David Goodwin got married at the Kingdom Hall in Colorado City on October 10, 2009. Together they gave Edna and Joe two grandsons, Joseph and Isaiah, born in Colorado Springs, CO. Sadly Joseph Roger Sinke didn’t wake up from a triple bypass surgery on June 4, 2012. David and Edith had one more son on January 21, 2015 in Durango, CO. Edna had the privilege of seeing all three grandsons being born. Edna  enjoyed traveling and photography and sharing many of her beautiful photos with her family and friends. Edna Jean Sinke continued in her faithful service to Jehovah God until her last breath on September 22, 2020, with her daughter Edith Goodwin near her bed in her home.

She is survived by her daughter, Edith JoAnn (David) Goodwin, her grandsons, Joseph Alan Goodwin, Isaiah Michael Goodwin, and Elijah Goodwin. She has two step daughters Vickey J Wearda and Esther K Parzych, A grandson Matthew (Kristy) S. Parzych, and granddaughters Lisa Kniss and Kimberly (Shaun) Moreno, and great grandchildren.
