Joshua Mark Schroetlin, age 41, of Woodland Park, Colorado, passed away peacefully at Bear Creek care center on March 17, 2020. Josh was born in Sterling, Colorado on July 10, 1978, son of Mark and Laura (Willmon) Schroetlin. Along with his younger brother, Curt, Josh grew up working for his family’s farm in Yuma and Holyoke. Josh was baptized on December 4, 1988. He attended college at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas; Hastings College in Hastings, Nebraska; Emporia State University in Emporia, Kansas; and Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky. He received his BA in English in 2001, and his MA in English in 2019. While attending Hastings College, Josh met and married his wife of 19 years, Amber (Gledhill) Schroetlin. After graduation, Josh and Amber lived in six different cities. Their first two children, Miranda and Joseph, were born in Emporia, and their youngest son, Brett, was born in Glenwood Springs. Josh loved teaching, and one of his greatest joys was making a difference in a student’s life. His favorite things in life included his family, movies, and camping, and he never missed a chance to wear a funny t-shirt. At the end of his life, he spent every possible moment sharing his faith and encouraging others to trust in God as he did. Josh is survived by his wife and children, of Woodland Park; his parents, Mark and Laura; his brother Curt and wife Laura Beth; his two grandmothers, Norma Warren and Linda Willmon, all of Holyoke; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by grandparents Harold and Mildred Schroetlin and Stanley Willmon.
Services for Josh will be postponed until further notice. In lieu of flowers, please send donations for his childrens’ college funds to Bruce Gledhill, 1305 Leslie Circle, Woodland Park, CO 80863.
