Lynette Christine Rodriguez (June 17,1977 – February 9, 2020), 42, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a 3-year battle with cancer.

Lynette was born to Joseph Murphy and the late Josefina “Josie” Murphy on June 17, 1977 in San Jose, California. She is survived by her significant other of 14 years Brian Vinson; daughter Abigail Rodriguez; son Colin Murphy; father Joseph Murphy; brother Brian Murphy; Auntie Liz Bautista; Uncle Nathan Caditan; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins across the United States and the Philippines.

She spent her life living in many beautiful places. Surrounding herself by the warmth of the Bay Area, as well as the mesmerizing beaches of San Diego, CA. She was a diehard San Francisco Giant’s fan and rooted for the 49ers, no matter how their season was going. She made her way down south to Lafayette, LA. But her heart was drawn to the mountains in 2000. Where she settled in Colorado Springs, CO.

She graduated from St. Francis High School in Mt. View, CA. Creating amazing friendships that lasted a lifetime. From time capsules about hoping the New Kids On The Block would fall in love with her, to many father-daughter dances, and serving within her church community. You could always find Lynette gathering around the family table with loved ones, creating the best margaritas for her friends, bringing joy to the customers of P.F. Chang’s, or listening to her favorite music during all hours of night with her family. But Lynette enjoyed being a mother to her 2 children the most. She adored and loved them with every ounce of her being.

Lynette will be deeply missed by family and friends. Her contagious laughter, spunky personality, and endless love for all those she held close will continue to live on within us all. Whenever we watch Friends, Family Feud, or an episode of Scrubs know that she’ll be watching and laughing right beside us.

Although cancer took a toll on her body, it never dulled her spirit. You could catch her cracking jokes with her cancer team, giving “the look” to her children, or sharing her sassy spirit with her family. She was forever thankful for all the support that was extended to her from her outstanding oncology team, compassionate friends, and supportive family. Cancer never won, and she fought bravely until the end. She is free. Resting peacefully with the Lord our Savior. Lynette’s presence here on earth was truly a gift and will be missed, but she sure does make heaven more beautiful.
