Christy Lynn Pinyerd, age 62, passed away peacefully in her home on the evening of February 17th, surrounded by loved ones, after a long fight against cancer.
Christy is survived by her loving husband and best friend of almost 42 years, Clay Pinyerd, her daughter Stephanie Shalosky, her son Tre Pinyerd, her son-in-law Aaron Shalosky, her daughter-in-law Deb Pinyerd, and her five grandchildren, Mayce, Taytum, Sawyer, Reagan, and Cooper. She will also be greatly missed by her nieces, Marlisa, Marcie, Sandy and Kimberly whom she lovingly cared for as their second mother.
Christy was born on July 21, 1956 in San Bernardino, CA, a daughter of the late William and Patricia Cola. She is also preceded in death by her sister Cindy Petersen and her brother John Cola.
Christy was a follower of Jesus Christ, a wife, mother, grandmother, lover of animals, golfer, stock market enthusiast, artist, and avid cruiser. After high school, Christy served honorably in the United States Air Force and then went on to a successful career as a mortgage loan officer upon moving to Colorado Springs in 1985.
With a fierce love for the ocean, Christy loved to cruise the Caribbean with her family. (Including 12 cruises since her June 2014 diagnosis.) She took pride in her role as a grandmother, her favorite title, and was very active in the lives of all five of her grandkids. A strong spirited woman with a quick wit, Christy’s wonderful sense of humor kept the family on their toes. She had a tremendous heart for the less fortunate, especially children, and would often reach out to serve them in anonymous ways.
Christy will be missed by her family, friends and neighbors. There is peace and comfort in the knowledge that she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Please join them in celebrating her life on Saturday, March 2nd at Falcon Baptist Church at 1pm. Food reception to follow where memories and stories can be shared. Comfortable attire and bright colors welcomed.
