March 25th 1957 – November 4th 2018

Jeff was born in Dayton Ohio to Joseph and Mary Elgart. He has two older sisters, Linda Taulbee (Dan) of Brookville OH, and Mary Jo McNally (Joe) of Scituate MA. He is preceded in death by his parents and son Matthew Elgart. Jeff passed away peacefully in his home of Colorado Springs.

After growing up he attended Bowling Green State University. After graduating with his Bachelors he began to travel the United States, until he found his home in Colorado. He was an avid Broncos fan. Jeff grew up boy scout and was a Scout Leader. Jeff loved the outdoors, camping and especially fishing. He was a very talented photographer, often for nature and wedding photography.  When he wasn’t fishing or spending time with his family, he was working hard at the Home Depot. Working in the same store for more than 10 years he became a staple to not only his department but to the whole store.

Jeff had many family, friends and co workers that loved him. He always had a positive attitude and a cheerful disposition. He didn’t have a single unkind bone in his body. He has touched many hearts with his kindness, honesty, and all together laid back style he had. Jeff very much enjoyed the simple things in life.

Left to cherish his memories are his sisters, the mother of his Children Elaine Filkoski (Ron) of Colorado Springs; His Daughter Laura O’Shell (Kelly) of Palm Coast, FL; His daughter in law Carolyn Elgart (Tony Rotteger) of Colorado Springs; and all of his grandchildren Riley (12), Timothy Rotteger (11), Haley (10), Piper (6), Emelia Rotteger (5) Axle (2), and Jakob Rotteger (newborn); and his beloved pet Kitty.

There will be an informal gathering at Prospect Lake. It was his favorite place to go on a quick fishing jaunt or simply enjoy the beautiful scenery. All are welcome to come celebrate his life on Saturday November 17th at 10:00am. We’ll be at the corner of the lake on Prospect lake drive and South Union Blvd.
