1968 ~ 2018

Karen Jennifer Heiney Brown (March 21, 1968 – September 8, 2018), 50, of Colorado Springs, CO, and originally Monroe, CT, passed away peacefully in her home after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.  Karen is a graduate of Masuk High School and Ithaca College (BFA), and did graduate work at Rhode Island School of Design.  Karen worked for Current, Inc., and most recently the Colorado Springs Police Department.  Karen is survived by her mother, Elizabeth R. Heiney, a brother, Greg Heiney, and a sister, Sue Waters, all of Connecticut.  Karen was pre-deceased by her father, Harold G. Heiney.  Karen leaves behind her beloved rescue dog, Lexi.  A memorial service will be held at Monroe Congregational Church, Monroe, CT, at the convenience of the family.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Colorado Shiba Inu Rescue, P.O. Box 801, Englewood, CO 80151.
