1949 ~ 2018
Karen M. Yauch, age 68, passed away January 4, 2018 at Cheyenne Mountain Care Center and under the loving care of Compassus Hospice. She died of complications of chronic heart and lung disease after an acute pneumonia episode. Her friends and second family of staff at Cheyenne Mountain Care Center were a great source of happiness and comfort for Karen over the past few years.
Karen, an only child, was born to Harold and Amanda Babcock October 15, 1949 in Appleton, Wisconsin. Karen’s mother passed when she was young and she was raised by her father. She worked with her father in their family restaurant as a teen. After graduating high school in Appleton, Karen worked for American Family Insurance. Karen and Michael Yauch III were married September 2, 1972. They moved to Colorado Springs in 2003 from Deerfield, Wisconsin. Karen worked in customer service for Time Warner Cable and Adelphia in Colorado Springs. She enjoyed knitting, reading, coloring and crafts. She loved watching football and was a Green Bay Packers fan. She rarely missed watching a Packers game. She truly enjoyed the holidays, especially Halloween and Christmas. These times were even more special to Karen when shared with the grandkids.
Karen is preceded by Michael, her loving husband of 42 years, who passed onNovember 11, 2014. She is survived by her children Sarah Yauch and Michael Yauch and her granddaughters Hannah and Gabriella, who are Sarah’s daughters. In life Karen was a supportive co-grandparent, friend to many, caring aunt andin-law, loving mother and grandmother,devoted daughter and wife. She will be deeply missed. Over the past 12 years her granddaughters were trulythe light of her life.
