Frank Charles Hoffmann III

April 25, 1936 – July 15, 2017

At 81, Frank Charles Hoffmann III of Bennett, CO picked up his final clearance Saturday July 15, 2017.  “Hi Frank, this is God and you are cleared to Angels Unlimited with an unrestricted climb heading 270 degrees and nothing but clear skies and tailwinds.”  His faithful crew was by his side to help make his final takeoff a smooth journey.

Frank served in the Korean War, received an honorable discharge, and was a pilot for Frontier Airlines for 30 years and a pilot for over 50 years. He was respected and admired by his peers in the aviation field.  His passion also became his hobby; restoring and flying his personal airplanes. He was a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association since 1994.  Frank was also a member of the Quiet Birdmen Organization and enjoyed the friendship and comradery with other members.

The Department of Transportation, through the Federal Aviation Administration bestowed Frank in 2007, the Wright Brothers “Master Pilot” award.

Frank was loved by so many and he loved each and everyone too.  He could tell the greatest stories about his travels around the world and his experiences.  He would often state how fortunate his life had been.  His first and foremost love was to his family. He dearly loved his wife Diane L. Hoffmann who preceded him in death. He is survived by his sons, Jerome and Gregory, and always boasted about his love for them.   He was proud to be their father and of their accomplishments. He will be dearly missed by all.

He is also survived by daughters-in-law, Judith and Vicki; his sister, Nadine Flash; granddaughters Kristin and Shelby, as well as other family members.

A Celebration of Frank’s Life will be he announced at a later date.
