1955~2017
Michael John Kurvink, born May 19, 1955 to Douglas and Georgia (Kling) Kurvink in Denver, CO left a legacy many would be proud of when he passed from this plane on March 28, 2017 in Colorado Springs, CO
After marrying his high school sweetheart, Michele Irelan, in 1972, he went on to impact the world’s population with three wonderful children – Jason, Shannon, and Matthew (Miriam) Kurvink. They are all left to mourn.
He added to many structures with his knowledge and practice of concrete construction, both along Colorado’s Front Range and California’s North Bay.
He did more than his part to protect the American Pit Bull Terrier breed and their owners’ rights as co-owner of Crescent Moon Kennel and Vice-President of Heritage and Horsetooth Dog Clubs.
He enjoyed playing billiards, Mopar hot rods, and cooking his infamous green chili and BBQ fit for the gods, all while discussing philosophy, physics, and the constellations in the night sky.
Although a soft spoken man, he enjoyed sharing his knowledge with those interested, whether it was guidance or trading quips. His dry sense of humor carried a rapier-sharp wit.
His greatest pleasure, after a job “well-done”, was spending time with family. He was inordinately proud of all of his children and grandchildren, supporting from the smallest to the largest accomplishments, and believed all dreams were achievable if willing to put the effort into making them happen.
Although he had lapsed playing the guitar in his later years, his love of music was apparent to anyone he met. From classical to jazz to heavy metal rock & roll, he appreciated talent, and again, the determination to make that dream happen.
He will be dearly missed by his grandchildren – Corinn, Aaron, Troy, Mason, Shannell, Katlyn, Kaliann, and Danger. His parents, sister Christine Chase, niece Heather, nephews Steven Chase, Greg and Robert Kurvink will always feel the void left behind.
Michael was preceded to the afterlife by his brother Paul, grandparents Peter, Ed, Thelma, George, and Martha, parents-in-law Alfred and LaVerna.
A Celebration of Michael’s life will be held at noon on April 22nd, at Antiques Billiards, 3628 Citadel Dr. North, Colorado Springs, CO 80909 Please come share memories of this remarkable man with us.
