1949 ~ 2017

Herbert Lee Hanchett 67, died Sunday, March 12, 2017 at his home following an illness with chronic cardio pulmonary disease. He leaves his sister Katura Rashool and brother Doskor Hanchett, Jr. and a few close friends. Born and raised in Beaumont, Texas the son of Virginia and Doskor Hanchett, Sr., who preceded him along with his oldest brother David Hanchett.  Mr. Hanchett was a longtime resident of Colorado Springs. In his early years, Mr. Hanchett worked in the food service industry and building construction. After graduating from Carlton-Pollard High School of Beaumont, Texas in 1968, he attended Lamar University of Beaumont graduating in 1970 with a diploma in Mechanical Drafting.  Mr. Hanchett came to Colorado Springs in March of 1982 to live with his brother after suffering a severe back injury while working at a construction site, for which he never fully recovered.  Mr. Hanchett was a member of Compton Chapel Church of God in Christ of Beaumont, Texas where he was given strong Christian values through regular Sunday School attendance throughout his childhood.  He enjoyed watching his favorite videos, and working crossword puzzles.
